This all started when I stopped breathing at home. The EMTs did a tracheotomy in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. They put me in a medically-induced coma for 2 weeks.
I spent another two weeks in the hospital. I couldn’t swallow, speak, eat, or even roll over.
There was a feeding tube in my stomach and a tube for breathing. The hospital told my daughter there was nothing more they could do for me.
That’s when my daughter found Oasis. They accepted me for rehabilitation. When I got there, I was not a nice patient! However, the team worked constantly towards my recovery. Mark, my therapist never gave up. He got me to walk again.
Today, all the tubes are out. I’m eating regular food, walking, and best of all I’m going home tomorrow!
I can’t say enough about the staff at Oasis. They gave me my life back!
